5km from central Cairns, Mount Whitfield Conservation Park has walking tracks to the top of Mt. Lumley hill offering great views of the Cairns coastline.

Wonder along the 1300 meters of mangrove boardwalks and see the echo system at work, close up. See how these tall bush trees rise high above you and seem if they can be easily lifted from the mud bath. Watch out for the small movements of life. Mud crabs, spiders and birds. Remember to cover up and wear repellent.

Experience a leisurely ride or get down and dirty on an ATV at Blazing Saddles. A great day out travelling through the rain forest and native bushland. Then return for a BBQ and meet the farm animals.

Paronella Park is a magical place. This is the remains of a Spainard's dream, who bought and sold farms to raise money to build a castle and extraordinatory gardens for his family. What is left is an idea to how beautiful the area would have been. Great artitect and design. Well worth a visit.

Hidden in the Atherton Tablelands, Lake Barrine is famous for its volcanic crater brim. Take a 40 minute cruise or stroll 5km around the lake and visit the old giant twin Kauri pines.

One of the best attractions on the Atherton Tablelands is the aworesome Curtain Fig Tree. A strangler fig species, Ficus virens. Nothing will prepare you for its huge size. One of the largest trees in northern Queensland, it is a fascinating sight. The effect has happened over many years. One tree leaning against another at a 45 degree angle. The vines started to grow and hence hang down and give the curtain effect. A boardwalk takes you around the tree so you can see the intertwining.

Millaa Millaa Falls are part of the Waterfall Circuit 59km inland from Innisfall. The falls have apeared in the XXXX Gold Beer, shampoo and Qantas advertisements. It is 18.3 meters and gives out a loud roar.

Eilinjaa Falls is also part of the 13 waterfall circuit. Just a short drive you can enjoy the peaceful serenity of the rainforest. There is a viewing platform, but walk down to feel the cool spray against your face or join the swimmers taking a bathe.

1 hour from Cairns, Port Douglas is set by the coral sea and has beautiful long beaches, set against the mountain ranges and rain forest habitat. Visit Macrossan Street for great shopping, cafes and lovely boutiques. There is even a Sunday market.

When you see Wonga Beach you know you have reached the entrance to the Daintree Valley. It stretches for miles and is easily accessible. Take a walk along the beautifully clean and crisp coast.

Cape Tribulation is north of Cairns. Known for its ancient rain forest, it also has wonderful long beaches. Is a great place to be based to see the Barrier Reef and the Daintree.

Journey through sandy palm fringed beaches, waving cane fields, jungle clad misty mountains of The Daintree. Picturesue rivers and surroundings. Encounter rare and endangered species and prehistoric crocodiles.

The 4.7 mile cableway of the Kuranda Sky Rail takes you above the rain forest canopy of the Barron Gorge National Park. The journey takes about 1.5 hours and gives you time to stop off at various locations including the Barron Falls and a wonderful panaromic view of the coastline.

The Butterfly Sanctuary, Kuranda holds the Guinness Book of Records for the largest enclosed flight space. Experience this magical place, come face to face with some of the largest butterflies in the world. Wear something bright and they will flutter and fuss over you until you leave!

Enjoy 4.5 hours at The Great Barrier Reef. Take the high speed catamaran to arrive at the pontoon where you can snorkell, experience nature with the 'touch tank', ride in the glass bottom boat or the semi-submersible to see the wonderful sea life. You can even take a 10 minute flight over the reef to see the beautiful colours of mother nature.

Walk along the mouth of the Barron River and watch the mud craps, or take a stroll along the palm fringe Trinity Beach and see how the light changes. The beautiful scene shows silhouettes across the land as the sun slowly rises.

Understand the rainforest ecology and have fun at the Wildlife Dome in Cairns. Enclosed by a 20 meter high glass dome on top of the iconic Reef Hotel Casino. Get up close to the cute wallabies as they roam free.
